“The music industry can only survive by encouraging new talent, which is one of the reasons I’m really excited to start hearing the entries for this competition. I’m especially looking out for innovative bands who are creative and bring something original to the table.”

The above quote is from renowned engineer, Chris Kimsey, and for those of you taking part in the Shure Call For Legends unsigned band contest, you’ll most likely be fully aware of the prize on offer (view prize here), however, you might be less familiar with some of the details, including who Chris is, and the top names he’s associated with. This blog should help shed some light on his expertise…

As part of Call For Legends, we’ve not only teamed up with a first class recording studio and world class music festival – we also paired it with a world class engineer. Chris Kimsey is best known for his work with the Rolling Stones, but has also produced/engineered for a wide range of acts, including: Peter Frampton, Duran Duran, INXS, and Ash to name but a few. Starting at the world renowned Olympic Studios, Chris went on to engineer a number of classic albums, including the world’s biggest selling live album ‘Frampton Comes Alive’. Over the years, Chris has become known throughout the industry as the ‘Producers, Producer’ and he is as charming a personality as he is a talented creative producer. Check out the video interviews below to get a flavour for his expertise and on-going relationship with Shure.

Cheers, and my the best act win!
